WATCH: CCM Play Series presents 'Clue: On Stage'
Tickets on sale now; watch a trailer for this hilarious murder mystery
UC College-Conservatory of Music presents Clue: On Stage (play) on Feb. 8-10, 2024 at Patricia Corbett Theater. Directed by Brant Russell, the hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery play is based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie inspired by the classic Hasbro board game.
The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Clue: On Stage is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out…WHO did it, WHERE and with WHAT!
"This show is very musically stylized and technically elaborate so saying it is a huge undertaking is an understatement," says Assistant Director Hannah Toronto, a junior BFA Acting student at CCM. "Timing plays a major role in creating the most comical and shocking moments on stage and watching each moment come to life during rehearsals is very exciting. The actors are so creatively witty and they know how to work as an ensemble which really gives way to the most diverse and dynamic group of characters on stage."

Student actors have prepared for the play similar to how performers would choreograph/block a musical because of the demand for precise comedic timing, Toronto adds. The team worked with CCM Musical Theatre Professor Chaz Wolcott on coordinating the large ensemble movements that give the show its stylized extravagance.
"This is probably the most technical show I have ever had the privilege to be a part of," Toronto says. The production features a four-part turntable for Clue's many iconic rooms, developed by student Scenic Designer Gabby Trice and student Technical Director Hunter Lee. Student Costume Designer Max Cotman "constructed a beautifully sophisticated and meticulous set of costumes for this show, which is a huge part in transporting the audience to this unique 1950s dinner party," Toronto adds.
"The show is 90 minutes, without intermission, and is very fast paced," Toronto adds. "There are always multiple people on stage, many cogs working on the Clue machine at once, so as an audience, be careful not to miss any reveals or funny moments that happens on stage!"
