Chemical engineering student researches nanoparticle drug delivery

Vishnu Sriram came to the University of Cincinnati from his home country of India to pursue a master’s in chemical engineering. He decided to stay at UC for his Ph.D. to research nanoparticle gene and drug delivery that could someday lead to improved cancer treatments.

UC engineer named highly cited researcher for fourth consecutive year

Dionysios (Dion) Dionysiou, a University of Cincinnati professor in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, was named a 2021 Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate for the fourth consecutive year for his work addressing water pollution, conservation and treatment. His research includes creating sensors to detect cyanotoxins in water sources and how to break down PFAS, the "forever chemical."

UC reactor makes Martian fuel

UC College of Engineering and Applied Science assistant professor Jingjie Wu and his students used a carbon catalyst in a reactor to convert carbon dioxide into methane. The new processes promise to help scientists address climate change and provide fuel for astronauts traveling back from Mars.

UC student converts waste grease to biofuel at city sewer district

Andres Mata’s research for his University of Cincinnati master’s degree in chemical engineering could result in a greener fuel source. Mata, who was awarded Graduate Student Engineer of the Month from UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, was the lead graduate student working on a pilot project in Professor Mingming Lu’s lab to extract lipids from grease at wastewater treatment plants for biodiesel production.
