Engineering student works to improve water infrastructure

After earning her bachelor's degree in civil engineering at a premier university in Nigeria, Tolulope Odunola became fascinated by the world of hydrology and water systems and set off to continue her education in environmental engineering. She came to the University of Cincinnati for her master's degree, and the experience left such an impact she stayed for her PhD, working under the guidance of Patrick Ray, associate professor of environmental engineering. Odunola was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Undergraduate research co-ops inspire environmental engineer

Megan Naber hopes to put her engineering degree to good use by finding new ways to reduce the environmental problems that arise from the agriculture industry. Naber, an environmental engineering student at the University of Cincinnati, is motivated by her passion for the natural world and her experiences as an undergraduate researcher. Naber is simultaneously working on two degrees as part of the UC College of Engineering and Applied Science ACCEND accelerated degree program.

Chemical engineer produces biofuels from waste materials

Yu Zhang, who first came to the University of Cincinnati in 2014 to begin a master’s degree in environmental engineering., is continuing her research work in developing biofuels from waste as a doctoral student in chemical engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science. UC students win environmental challenge competition

A team of University of Cincinnati engineering students won first place in the virtual Environmental Challenge International Competition hosted by the Air and Waste Management Association. For the challenge, the students were tasked with proposing effective solutions to a simulated environmental problem based on real-world events. Their winning solution included suggesting modular nuclear energy.

UC professor researches graywater treatment and reuse
