Bob Klein, PhD, has been selected as the new associate dean of academic affairs at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College.
Klein brings over 25 years of experience in higher education as an award-winning faculty member and as an administrator who has managed a regional college campus, developed new degree programs and led various initiatives focused on student success. He earned master’s degrees in mathematics and education as well as a doctorate in mathematics education from Ohio State University.
“Bob is an exceptional leader who has a unique set of skills and experience that make him a perfect fit for this role,” said UC Blue Ash Dean Robin Lightner, PhD. “I look forward to collaborating with him as we continue to support faculty development and expand our academic programs to meet the needs of our students and the Greater Cincinnati region.”
Klein currently serves as chair of the Department of Teaching, Learning & Foundations in the College of Education at Eastern Illinois University. Prior to that, he spent nearly two decades at Ohio University where his roles included serving as undergraduate chair and curriculum coordinator for the Department of Mathematics and as interim dean for Ohio University Eastern, one of the university’s five regional college campuses.
This experience, along with other work Klein did with OU’s regional campuses, added to his passion for working for institutions with a commitment to increasing access to higher education.
“My scholarship, teaching and service have always centered on access and equity, and my leadership roles have grown within me a strong belief in the power to make a difference through servant leadership,” said Klein. “I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the academic excellence and student success initiatives at UC Blue Ash College.”
Klein will officially start at UC Blue Ash in May and work with Tracy Herrmann, PhD, the current associate dean of academic affairs, before she retires in June after 39 years as a faculty member and administrator at UC.
