The University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) is partnering with Procter & Gamble (P&G) to support diversity and inclusion programs at the college. The P&G Inclusive Excellence in Science and Engineering Fund embodies P&G’s commitment to giving back to the community, promoting diversity and inclusion in the engineering field while creating opportunities for careers in the industry as students understand the field.

Engineering professor develops on-demand drug delivery

Yoonjee Park, assistant professor of chemical engineering at University of Cincinnati's College of Engineering and Applied Science, developed a biodegradable drug delivery device that is activated by light, which would allow for on-demand dosing and fewer side effects for treatment of posterior eye diseases. With recent funding awards from the National Institute of Health and a Young Investigator Award from Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation, Park and her research team are testing the safety and efficacy of the device. In 2019, she also participated in UC’s Venture Lab business pre-accelerator.

UC researchers building better biomaterials for nerve repair

University of Cincinnati researcher Greg Harris, assistant professor of chemical engineering, is building novel biomaterials that could aid in nerve regeneration and other health applications. Existing biomaterials are limited in their capability, so Harris and his team are creating a material that is piezoelectric to better match how the body reacts to injury.
