CCM faculty featured in roundup of new classical music albums

CCM is home to an international faculty of dedicated educators who are also celebrated professionals in their own right, and two of those faculty members were recently highlighted in a New York Times roundup of notable new classical music albums. Entitled "5 Classical Music Albums You Can Listen to Right Now," the article includes recently released performance recordings featuring CCM Associate Professor of Voice Elliot Madore and CCM Assistant Professor of Cello Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir.

LastPass password manager now available for UC staff

The University of Cincinnati has partnered with LastPass to provide staff with enhanced password management services. The Office of Information Security and Digital Technology Solutions recently rolled out LastPass for all UC staff members to simplify password management with enhanced security and convenience.

Accomplished percussionist Adam Groh joins CCM's faculty

June 3, 2024

UC College-Conservatory of Music Interim Dean Jonathan Kregor has announced the addition of Adam Groh, DMA, to the college’s faculty of distinguished performing and media arts experts, researchers and educators. Groh begins his new role as Assistant Professor of Percussion on Aug. 15, 2024.

Four CCM alumni nominated in 2024 Tony Awards

Four UC College-Conservatory of Music alumni are named nominees in the 77th annual Tony Awards, recognizing the excellent work shared in Broadway productions during the 2023-24 season. The nominees, announced Tuesday, April 30, include Isabella Byrd (BFA Lighting Design and Technology, ’09), Shoshana Bean (BFA Musical Theatre, '99), Dorian Harewood and Leslie Kritzer (BFA Musical Theatre, '99).

A century-old love affair with the Bearcat

The Bearcat mascot is probably the most recognizable ambassador for goodwill and school spirit at the University of Cincinnati. The term “UC Bearcat” dates back to 1914 and seems to have first appeared in the campus newspaper following a football game between UC and the University of Kentucky Wildcats. The Cincinnati Enquirer recounts the tradition.

UC professor of Classics tapped for prestigious honorary society

The University of Cincinnati’s Jack Davis, Carl W. Blegen Professor of Greek archaeology in the department of Classics, has been elected to the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences. With this honor, Davis joins the ranks of luminaries such as U.S. president John Adams (elected in 1780), language scholar Noah Webster (of dictionary fame, tapped in 1799), and more currently playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, and actor and philanthropist George Clooney. Begun just four years after the Declaration of Independence was signed, when the U.S. was comprised of 13 colonies, the academy was established by founding fathers in Cambridge, MA.
