UC researchers recommend universal screening to tackle rise in hepatitis C

Physicians are encountering a growing number of younger patients who are testing positive for hepatitis C virus (HCV) fueled largely by the opioid crisis impacting communities around the country. That increase and more effective and tolerable drug regimens for HCV infection, means one-time universal screening of all adults for HCV is now cost effective and recommended, say physician-researchers in the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine.

UC’s Bearcats Pantry moves to Stratford Heights, adds professional closet

University and student leadership gathered in Stratford Heights Wednesday for a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting for the new pantry, located on the lowest level of Stratford building 16. In addition to food and personal items, the Bearcats Pantry now includes a “Career Closet” with free professional clothing for interviews, presentations and other job opportunities.

UC engineer recognized by Ohio Faculty Council

University of Cincinnati professor Jay Lee was recognized by the Ohio Faculty Council for his contribution to the field of industrial artificial intelligence. Lee, a professor in UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, is the runner-up of this year’s Technology Commercialization Award. The award went to University of Toledo professor Vijay Goel for his development of a medical screw used in spinal surgeries.
