Two Ohio Innocence Project exonerees, Aaron Culbertson and Dean Gillispie speak with Ohio media about the impact of wrongful conviction. Culbertson is the newest OIP exoneree while Gillispie was the first exoneration case taken by OIP in its 20-year history.

The story of Michael Sutton was covered by The Akron Beacon Journal and USA Today. The 33-year-old Cleveland native is an Ohio Innocence Project exoneree. He spent 15 years behind bars because of a wrongful conviction. Pierce Reed, director of policy and engagement for the Ohio Innocence Project at UC Law, says that Sutton’s journey, while incredibly unfair, is far from unique.
