Study: Long sentences for juveniles make reentry into society more difficult

University of Cincinnati criminologist J.Z. Bennett has a new study that appears in the journal Criminology. The study, "Thicker Than Blood: Exploring the Importance of Carceral Bonds for Those Formerly Serving Juvenile Life Without Parole Sentences," examines the societal barriers to reentry for juveniles who served long prison sentences.

Study finds Americans do not like mass incarceration

UC criminologist Francis Cullen co-led a study on American opinions about mass incarceration. The study concludes that Americans don’t want their tax dollars spent on more prisons and feel there should be alternate means to punish nonviolent offenders.

CECH welcomes 25 new faculty members to the University of Cincinnati

With the 2024-25 school year at University of Cincinnati underway, the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology (CECH) welcomes 25 new faculty members to the classrooms and hallways of the Teachers-Dyer Complex for the fall semester. The newly hired instructors are teaching within all of the college's four schools, preparing undergraduate and graduate students to be essential changemakers, impacting their communities and the world in a variety of fields.
