Fourth-year medical students at the University of Cincinnati celebrated Match Day 2021 with social media posts, facetime visits, texts and calls to family and friends. UC had 174 matched students who now know where they will spend the next three to seven years completing a medical residency. They will be the future doctors of Cincinnati and beyond.

These lifelike models of human body parts such as an anatomical replica of a hand, arm, knee or torso provide hands-on training critical for skill development, one of the biggest challenges of educating students in health care fields during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Matthew de Gannes is one of 38 students in the College of Medicine who will earn degrees during the virtual 2020 fall commencement ceremonies set for Dec. 11 and 12. The college will grant 14 doctoral, 23 master’s and one bachelor’s degree. UC is awarding a total of 2,457 degrees to 2,348 students during fall commencement. Some UC programs allow students to earn dual degrees.
