UC student mentors Cincinnati State co-op students at laser lab

When Michael Kattoura studied at the University of Cincinnati, he not only earned his PhD but also helped pass the torch to new researchers, building leadership skills along the way. As a student in UC's College of Engineering and Applied Science between 2013 and 2017, he worked as a teaching assistant for the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering and also as a research assistant at the Ohio Center for Laser Shock Processing for Advanced Materials and Devices lab. In January 2015, he became the most senior PhD student at the LSP lab and thus took the responsibility of laboratory equipment training and management.

CPS All-Star Showcase raises funds, awareness

March 29, 2023

Now in its second year, the CPS All-Star Showcase raised $15,000 to assist students in need at CPS schools. The basketball competition, between CPS schools all-stars and other competitions, is a partnership between CPS and UC that raises funds for Project Connect, an organization of advocacy paired with specialized educational services and lifestyle enrichment opportunities for CPS students experiencing homelessness.

FOX 19 features CCM E-Media’s ‘Hope After Hate’ project

June 15, 2020

Cincinnati news station FOX 19 interviewed UC College-Conservatory of Music E-Media Professor Hagit Limor about the innovative “Hope After Hate” project she is leading at CCM. Inspired by her own father’s experience during the Holocaust, Limor set out to create an immersive theatre and virtual reality project that shares his story with lessons to inspire action against acts of hatred and bigotry today.
