UC, Sodexo launch 513 Culinary Group to revolutionize campus dining

The University of Cincinnati and Sodexo introduce 513 Culinary Group, an immersive campus dining venture focused on innovation, creativity and inclusivity that will prioritize fresh, locally sourced ingredients, flavors from around the world and partnerships with local businesses. Effective May 1, 2024, the partnership brings revitalized dining facilities and menu enhancements for daily dining at UC’s main campus as well as at the Blue Ash and Clermont regional campuses.

History comes alive: UC Holocaust class experiments with VR technology

Students in UC’s Judaic studies class, Teaching and Remembering Trauma: Designing Holocaust and Genocide Education, took a first-hand look at the story of Holocaust survivor Fritzie Fritzshall and her experiences at Auschwitz-Birkenau, thanks to virtual reality (VR) technology provided by the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. UC is one of the first colleges granted exclusive access to the museum’s traveling set of VR headsets. Alexis Morrisroe, adjunct instructor in the Judaic Studies program, secured access to the VR headsets through her prior role as a youth educator at the museum from June 2008 to April 2020. Seizing the opportunity, the department became one of the first schools participating in the soft launch.

Community of AI enthusiasts expands in Cincinnati

In just one month, a post grew into CincyAI for Humans, a group that meets monthly at the University of Cincinnati’s Digital Futures building to network, share successes and learn about AI. #CincyAI

UC engineering faculty awarded more than $3M to reduce carbon emissions

The city of Cincinnati has a goal of being carbon neutral by the year 2050. Amanda Webb, assistant professor of architectural engineering at the University of Cincinnati, is making strides to bring this to fruition. She has received three major awards from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy to reduce carbon emissions.

Four CCM alumni nominated in 2024 Tony Awards

Four UC College-Conservatory of Music alumni are named nominees in the 77th annual Tony Awards, recognizing the excellent work shared in Broadway productions during the 2023-24 season. The nominees, announced Tuesday, April 30, include Isabella Byrd (BFA Lighting Design and Technology, ’09), Shoshana Bean (BFA Musical Theatre, '99), Dorian Harewood and Leslie Kritzer (BFA Musical Theatre, '99).

A century-old love affair with the Bearcat

The Bearcat mascot is probably the most recognizable ambassador for goodwill and school spirit at the University of Cincinnati. The term “UC Bearcat” dates back to 1914 and seems to have first appeared in the campus newspaper following a football game between UC and the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
