What is Political Science?

If you’re interested in government and politics you may be asking yourself ‘what is political science, and what does a political scientist do?’ Political science is an academic discipline offered through UC’s College of Arts & Sciences (A&S), encompassing the systematic study of politics, government and public policy. Political science delves into understanding the theory and practice of politics at various levels, ranging from local governance to international affairs. Through the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA), students can gain a comprehensive understanding of political systems, institutions, and behaviors, as well as the factors that shape political decision-making and public policy formulation.

UC researcher to study the FAB400, a cohort of sexual minority women

A federally funded study, led by University of Cincinnati clinical psychologist and researcher Sarah Whitton, PhD, looks to identify mental health risks and protective factors for sexual minority women (SMW). The study is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

NPR: Twitter replaces its bird logo with an X

UC's Jeffrey Blevins featured as an expert in an NPR article on Elon Musk's rebranding of Twitter to "X". Blevins, who holds faculty positions in both the Department of Journalism and School of Public and International Affairs, is a leading scholar in U.S. telecommunication law and policy, and critical political economy theory and is the co-author of “Social Media, Social Justice and the Political Economy of Online Networks.”
