UC faculty recognized for innovative instruction

Three faculty members in UC’s College of Arts and Sciences have received awards for bringing new thinking to classroom learning by the college’s Instructional Innovation Advisory Committee (iiAC). The Dean’s Award for Innovative Instruction is conferred on faculty who break new ground in teaching approaches, and the A&S Course Release Award grants the recipient a break from the usual teaching schedule to fully develop new or enhance existing courses. Both are awarded annually, and come with financial stipends.

Using isotopic analysis of its tusks, researchers tracked the ever-increasing seasonal migrations of a male mastodon across what is now Indiana, Ohio and Illinois more than 13,000 years ago. It's the first study of its kind to examine the seasonal movements of the largest extinct Ice Age animals.

This black-tie affair, a highlight of the UC Alumni Association's annual events, recognizes the achievements of Black alumni, faculty, staff, and students, awarding them with prestigious honors.

UC’s summer semester offers students short sessions, flexibility

Coming into the summertime of 2020, Sumedha Kappagantula was considering ways to make the most her opportunities during what is usually a break from the academic rigor of her traditional school year. As a Biomedical Engineering major in the UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Kappagantula is minoring in Chemistry and Biological Sciences, taking classes through the College of Arts and Sciences. She thought summer semester would be a great time to get ahead in her coursework, and move her degree forward.
