The UC College-Conservatory of Music is thrilled to congratulate current masters student Tiara Jones, who was recently named winner of USITT’s Make-Up Design Award. Jones was recognized as part of the USITT24 Conference and Stage Expo in Seattle, Washington.

Cincinnati audiences might not know Marissa Picciuto's name, but they've certainly seen her work on stage at UC's College-Conservatory of Music. She has worked behind the scenes of many productions, including CCM Acting's Clybourne Park last month. This spring, Picciuto graduates with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Stage Design, Props and Scenic Art with a specialization in props.

Earlier this month, the University of Cincinnati’s Graduate Student Government recognized the College-Conservatory of Music’s Graduate Student Association (GSA) with its GSA of the Year award. This award recognizes the outstanding contributions that the group has made to the quality of graduate student life within the CCM and UC communities. This year’s GSA consists of Maria Seffrin, president; Caitlan Truelove, vice president; Muning Wang, secretary; and Matt Coffey, treasurer. The Graduate Student Government also recognized Truelove with the Graduate Student Award for Exemplary Scholarship.

UC College-Conservatory of Music Lighting Design and Technology Professor Sharon Huizinga enjoyed a "once in a lifetime" experience this summer as the lighting and projection designer on Tiranya Ko Koisani (The Mediator), a new play about the Mursi people of Ethiopia's South Omo region.

The Lighting Design and Technology program at UC’s College-Conservatory of Music is teaching students how to create extended reality productions that primarily use digital media instead of physical sets.

UC College-Conservatory of Music Lighting Design and Technology student Eli Suarez was selected by the ACT Academy as a runner-up winner of its grandMA3 Programming Contest, wherein designers created virtual lighting shows using grandMA3 software. For his submission, Suarez created a light show to accompany The Killers’ hit song “Mr. Brightside.” Suarez is hoping that this win will lead to a bright future ahead.

Watch this mini-documentary by CCM Media Production to get an inside look at the dazzling collaboration between the college's Theatre Design and Production department and Hughes STEM High School art students. In spring 2021, UC College-Conservatory of Music Theatre Design and Production students partnered with Hughes STEM High School art students on a light show that was projected onto Hughes’ beautiful and historic façade. Themed around Afrofuturism and visions of the future, the project is supported of Prestige AV, Vincent Lighting Systems, Lightborne Communications and UC Forward.
