The Ariel Quartet presents its final CCM concert of the 2023-24 season at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 in Robert J. Werner Recital Hall. The program includes two of the most beloved works in the chamber music canon: Beethoven’s intense Op. 59 No. 1 and Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet in B Minor, featuring faculty artist Pavel Vinnitsky. The Ariel Quartet, UC College-Conservatory of Music’s String Quartet-in-Residence, continues its season Tuesday, Nov 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Werner Recital Hall. Alessio Bax, the award-winning Italian pianist, joins Ariel for the program’s finale: Dvořák’s Piano Quintet in A major, widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of the form. UC College-Conservatory of Music alumnus Harrison Sheckler (BM Piano, ’19) united 300 musicians from 15 countries for a virtual performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from Carousel. The performance is available to watch online.

UC’s College-Conservatory of Music welcomes six new full-time faculty members and six new staff members to its roster of distinguished performing and media arts experts this fall. In addition, the college is also welcoming five current faculty members into new leadership roles for 2022-23.

CCM Opera’s production of Philp Glass’s Galileo Galilei recently nabbed five nominations in BroadwayWorld Cincinnati’s annual awards for excellence in the region’s performing arts. The production, which ran from March 31 to April 3, 2022, has been recognized in the categories of Best Ensemble, Best Direction of a Musical (Greg Eldridge, Associate Professor of Opera Directing), Best Lighting Design of a Play or Musical (Ian Macintosh, BFA Lighting Design ‘22, and Thomas Hase, MFA Lighting Design) and Best Choreography (Hazel Alexander, BFA Dance ‘24). The awards are determined by audience vote, and the online poll is open through December 31.

UC’s College-Conservatory of Music offers dozens of different general studies and arts elective courses in fall 2020. These credit-granting courses are open to all UC students and cover a wide range of topics including dance, movies and media, music and theatre arts! Course offerings include options for in-person and online instruction.

Faculty and students at UC’s College-Conservatory of Music are collaborating on innovative multimedia projects in the CCM Idea Lab. The cross disciplinary class explores technical, artistic and philosophical questions to create short performance pieces that showcase the work of students and faculty from CCM Lighting Design and Technology, Sound Design and Technology, Technical Direction, Stage Management, Dance, Acting, Voice, Musical Theatre and Media Production.

CityBeat recently published its annual Best of Cincinnati® issue, and several CCM programs and performances were recognized in this year's roundup. CityBeat staff awarded CCM "Best Musical Hat Trick" for the combined accomplishments of the musicals "Sunday in the Park with George," "She Loves Me" and "Something Rotten!" CCM's Media Production Division also gained a coveted spot in this year's list of Cincinnati's best sports and recreations offerings, receiving the "Best Student Program With Actual National Exposure" award for the division's innovative Sports Media Production curriculum.

Originally broadcast on Friday, Feb. 12, this 30-minute-long virtual concert features CCM string quartet-in-residence the Ariel Quartet collaborating with master’s degree students Cristian Diaz and Denielle Wilson, who are also both second-year participants in CCM’s innovative Diversity Fellowship initiative with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
