The UC College of Law's 172nd annual Hooding Ceremony takes place May 21, marking the finish line for Sean Arthurs and about 125 other third-year law students. Arthurs will then prepare to help the burgeoning Latino community in Greater Cincinnati with their legal needs, after he was awarded one of the nation's most prestigous law fellowships on the basis of his proposals to serve that community.

Deliberative democracy, a concept for action-oriented community problem-solving and capacity building, will be the topic for a Feb. 9 program that features experts from Stanford, Georgetown and Harvard, along with representatives from a number of UC colleges.

For the first time since earning his release from prison, Clarence Elkins will visit the UC College of Law and the headquarters of the Ohio Innocence Project, which led the effort to gain his release, on Feb. 14. Elkins will be joined by Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro, a key supporter of Elkins' claim of innocence, for a special program at the college with students and attorneys from the Ohio Innocence Project at 2 p.m.
