The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's Fanfare Project launched in May 2020 to commission and premiere new solo works in response to the coronavirus pandemic. It's shared new music from more than 12 composers so far, including a recently premiered Viola Fanfare by Grammy-winner and MacArthur "Genius Grant" recipient Rhiannon Giddens. UC College-Conservatory of Music Musical Theatre senior Veronica Stern has advanced to the semi-final round of the 4th annual NextGen: The Voices of Tomorrow competition, hosted by the American Pops Orchestra. This year’s iteration of the event will be held via livestream, which means that anybody can view the event online when it takes place on Nov. 21.

Cincinnati audiences might not know Marissa Picciuto's name, but they've certainly seen her work on stage at UC's College-Conservatory of Music. She has worked behind the scenes of many productions, including CCM Acting's Clybourne Park last month. This spring, Picciuto graduates with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Stage Design, Props and Scenic Art with a specialization in props.
