Molly Getsinger is a rising star in the conducting world, and graduates this spring with a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from UC’s College-Conservatory of Music. A musician at an early age, her earliest musical memories are of taking piano lessons and singing in the school choir. When she entered high school, she had the opportunity to conduct her marching band as the drum major, and her passion for conducting was born.

Canada. Mexico. Canada again. Italy. Hong Kong. South Korea. India. Chile. And, if not for the cancellation of study abroad programs due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Ghana. Though her ninth study tour was cancelled, University of Cincinnati Lindner College of Business student Kalea Lucas still broke the known university record by going on eight unique experiences during her career.

UC College-Conservatory of Music alumnus Harrison Sheckler (BM Piano, ’19) united 300 musicians from 15 countries for a virtual performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from Carousel. The performance is available to watch online.

UC College-Conservatory of Music graduate student Leo De La Cruz won the CCM Wind Studies concerto competition and he achieved an honorable mention at the 2020 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition. Most recently, he won the National Federation of Music Clubs’ Carolyn Nelson Double Reed Award, which includes a $1,250 cash prize.
