Hoxworth Blood Center and Cincinnati Reds team up for summer blood donations
Exclusive Reds Hawaiian shirt for blood donors in July
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, and the Cincinnati Reds are teaming up for summer blood donations, offering an exclusive Reds Hawaiian shirt for blood donors in July.
All blood and platelet donors who donate at any of Hoxworth’s seven Neighborhood Donor Centers and select mobile blood drives during July will receive an exclusive Cincinnati Reds Hawaiian Shirt as a thank you.
"We’re always excited for summer festivities in Cincinnati, and our Reds fans are great supporters of Hoxworth, stepping up to donate blood when it’s most needed,” says David Oh, MD, co-chair and director of Hoxworth Blood Center. “We can’t thank the Reds enough for being such a valuable community partner and helping us drive blood donations throughout the baseball season, especially in these critical summer months.”
Hoxworth Blood Center and the Cincinnati Reds' official partnership spans decades, resulting in thousands of collected units of blood from local donors. Hoxworth is thrilled to continue its Reds partnership by offering Reds baseball fans exclusive Reds gear like this Cincinnati Reds Hawaiian Shirt as a thank you for donating at any of Hoxworth’s Neighborhood Donor Centers or select mobile blood drives during July.
On July 8th, Hoxworth’s “Pitching for Platelets” winner will throw out the celebratory first pitch at the Cincinnati Reds game against the Colorado Rockies at Great American Ball Park at 7:10 p.m. The local winner was randomly selected from previously donating platelets during April and May 2024 and will receive four tickets to the game.
Hoxworth needs at least 500 donors daily, including at least 60 platelet donors, to meet the demand of patients in local hospitals. Hoxworth’s seven Neighborhood Donor Centers are conveniently located in Anderson, Blue Ash, Clifton (Central), Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky, West Chester (North), Tri-County and Western Hills (West)
