Overnight phone and voicemail maintenance planned before start of fall semester

The University of Cincinnati's Digital Technology Solutions will move phone and voicemail systems to upgraded on-premises infrastructure in the data center prior to the start of fall semester.

The migrations will occur during off-peak hours when use is at its lowest — overnight Sunday into early Monday morning (12-7 a.m.) on July 15, 22 and 29 and Aug. 5. 

No interruptions to phone or voicemail service are planned or expected as part of the scheduled migrations.

Phone & voicemail migration schedule

  • Monday, July 15: Expressways that support remote phones and Jabber. (E.g. UC-owned phones used to answer calls from an off-campus location)
  • Monday, July 22: UC voicemail system.
  • Monday, July 29: Call manager servers. (E.g. Desk phone lines)
  • Monday, August 5: Call center servers (E.g. On-campus call centers including the IT Service Desk and Enrollment Services)

UC student aims to make AI more explainable, trustworthy

Artificial intelligence systems have quickly advanced and can answer just about any question, but how they come to their decisions often isn't understood, even by the people who create the AI. Lynn Pickering, a University of Cincinnati alumna who is working on her PhD at UC, wants to make sure AI is used safely and responsibly.
