UC research examines workplace stress in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic

A new study from the University of Cincinnati examined the impact of workplace stress and provided insights for organizations to explore ways to reduce workplace stress for a better and healthier working environment. The study had two parts: a survey in which respondents described their experiences of workplace stress during the COVID-19 pandemic and a quantitative study using saliva cortisol as a biomarker of stress along with a stress diary to find out where and when workplace stress commonly occurred.

Forbes: More immigrants, fewer drug-related deaths

A new study, led by the University of Cincinnati, finds that immigration is not related to increased drug overdose deaths in the United States. The study, published in the journal Criminology, examined county-level data from 2000 to 2015 in the U.S. to analyze the relationships between immigration and deaths from drug overdoses and homicides.

UC engineering professor named highly cited researcher

Dionysios (Dion) Dionysiou, University of Cincinnati professor of environmental engineering, was named a 2022 Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate for the fifth consecutive year for his research work developing technologies and strategies to identify, monitor and treat water pollutants and toxins, including PFAS and cyanotoxins. He was recognized in three categories — engineering, environment/ecology and chemistry.

Local 12: Local ecologist looks at ways to save bats

UC's 'Bat Man", Joseph Johnson, interviewed by Local 12 during Bat Week 2022. Johnson is an ecologist and assistant professor of information technology who uses data from environmental sensors to understand changes in animal populations, primarily bats.
