Professor Kimberly D. Bailey named Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at UC Law

Professor Bailey joined the College of Law faculty in 2023 and currently serves as Professor of Law, teaching in the areas of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Evidence, and Sex, Gender, Sexuality, and the Law.  A leading scholar, her work explores how social, political, and economic inequalities in society are reflected in the law.  She is an expert on gender violence, and she has also written about the privacy invasions and aggressive surveillance of women and communities of color. Her work has been published in numerous law reviews and journals, including the University of Illinois Law Review, the Florida Law Review, The Journal of Gender, Race and Justice, UC Davis Law Review, American Criminal Law Review, Washington University Journal of Law and Policy, the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, and the BYU Law Review.

Prior to joining the University of Cincinnati College of Law faculty, Professor Bailey was an Associate Professor of Law and Norman and Edna Freehling Scholar at Chicago-Kent College of Law. During her time at Chicago-Kent, she received numerous teaching and service awards, including the IIT John W. Rowe University Excellence in Teaching Award and the Ralph Brill Service Award from the Chicago-Kent Student Bar Association.  She also served as a visiting scholar and adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center. Prior to joining academia, Professor Bailey practiced labor and employment law, most recently at Fulbright and Jaworski, LLP (now part of Norton Rose Fulbright).   

Professor Bailey graduated with a bachelor of arts degree with highest distinction from Indiana University. She received her juris doctor degree cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, where she was a Clarence Darrow Scholar and a contributing editor of the Michigan Law Review.
