Tony Nominee Dorian Harewood receives BFA from CCM

Harewood attended CCM from 1969-72, but left before graduating to pursue his first acting job

Tony nominee Dorian Harewood was honored with a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music on August 8. Harewood studied at CCM, but left the university in 1972 prior to graduating to pursue his first acting offer.

UC Vice President for Alumni and Donor Experience and Chief Alumni Officer Jennifer Heisey presented Harewood with his BFA in Musical Theatre in a special celebration at Bond 45 in New York. The celebration also included Broadway stars and fellow CCM alumni like Kevin McCollum (BFA Musical Theatre, ’84; HonDoc, '05) and CCM Senior Director of Development and Alumni Relations Elaine Cox. 

Harewood recently received a 2024 Tony Award nomination for his performance as Older Noah in The Notebook, which is produced by McCollum and Bradley Reynolds (BFA Musical Theatre, '84). Learn more about CCM's connections to the 2024 Tony Awards.

WVXU's Cincinnati Edition recently featured the podcast in an interview with co-hosts Brian J. Leitten (BFA E-Media, ’02) and Dylan Mulvaney (BFA Musical Theatre, ’19).

In the News: CCM performs at New York's Carnegie Hall

UC College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) students and Broadway alumni took the stage at Carnegie Hall to present a one-night-only performance and fundraiser to help support the next generation of performing and media artists. The January 14 event honored CCM alumnus Stephen Flaherty while also raising money for CCM scholarships and educational initiatives.
