Career Services reached co-op, experiential learning milestones in 2023-24
Lindner students completed more than 1,000 co-ops
The Carl H. Lindner College of Business Career Services Center’s 2023-24 academic year accomplishments reflect the college’s steadfast commitment to co-op and experiential learning.
Notable endeavors and achievements by Lindner Career Services include:
Sandra English, assistant dean, Lindner Career Services.
- Onboarded more than 200 first-year students to participate in Trailblazer Scholars, a cohort who voluntarily opted into Lindner’s universal co-op requirement.
- Redesigned the curriculum for Career Success Strategies, a required course for first-year Lindner students that offers industry best practices on creating professional materials, applying to roles, networking, interviewing and more.
- Served as expert presenters on the role of artificial intelligence in career services at the Ohio Cooperative Education Association Conference.
- Actively engaged with alumni and industry partners in the Big 12 Conference market.
- Increased Employer Advisory Board membership.
“Lindner Career Services Center serves as a critical component of the Lindner strategic plan of excellence and Dean Marianne Lewis’s commitment to experiential learning, career exploration and corporate partnerships,” said Sandra English, assistant dean, Career Services. “We continue to strengthen experiential education by integrating distinct academic, professional and co-curricular experiences.”
Co-op, job placements
Over the 2023-24 school year, 1,019 co-ops were completed by 821 students across fall, spring and summer semesters.
Within three months of graduating, 88% of 2023-24 undergraduate students secured employment. The placement rate for graduate students (92%) was even higher. Undergraduate students sported an average starting salary of $62,155, an increase from 2022-23. Graduate students’ average starting salaries amounted to $90,922.

In a display of commitment to Lindner’s mission of empowering business problem solvers, nine companies hired at least 10 undergraduate students who graduated during the past academic year: Fifth Third Bank, Medpace, Deloitte, Fidelity Investments, Great American Insurance Group, Western & Southern, Ernst & Young (EY), Cintas and GE Aerospace.
Nine companies hired or were the existing employers of at least five graduate students: University of Cincinnati, Fifth Third Bank, Procter & Gamble, 84.51, Great American Insurance Group, Walmart, Koncert IT Solutions LLC, Fidelity Investments and Wolters Kluwer.
Co-op and employment figures were recently finalized through Career Services’ annual survey of co-op and job placement data.

Universal co-op updated timeline

Lindner’s implementation of universal co-op has been introduced in stages. Here is the updated timeline:
- Fall 2022: Requirement for Lindner Business Honors.
- Fall 2023: Voluntary opt-in requirement for traditional, first-year students.
- Fall 2024: Requirement for traditional, first-year students.
- Fall 2025: Voluntary opt-in requirement for transfer and transition students.
- Fall 2026: Voluntary opt-in requirement for transfer and transition students (year two).
- Fall 2027: Requirement for transfer and transition students.

Lindner to launch universal co-op program

Beginning in fall 2023, the Carl H. Lindner College of Business will roll out a new universal co-op program. Once implemented through a phased approach, all undergraduate students will be required to complete a baseline of two co-ops, with the minimum number of experiences needed depending on the students' specific circumstances.
