All eyes are on #GivingTuesday at the University of Cincinnati, with the 2024 annual day of charitable giving set for Dec. 3. At UC, #GivingTuesday proudly showcases the many ways it makes a global impact. In its eleventh consecutive year participating in this international campaign, UC will spotlight inspiring initiatives that enhance the lives of its community members and people around the world. All members of the UC family are encouraged to participate by supporting causes they’re passionate about.
One such cause is the UC Student Emergency Fund which demonstrates the university’s commitment to student success. The fund offers vital financial support to full-time students facing unexpected challenges that could disrupt their education. Students can apply for assistance with essential needs such as rent, temporary housing, utilities, food, travel expenses and medications. Use of this valuable resource is growing: In the full 2022-23 academic year, the fund assisted 46 students and disbursed $16,600; in the Fall 2023 semester alone, awarded funds totaled $17,370.
“From time to time our students face unexpected struggles that threaten their ability to remain in school,” said UC President Neville Pinto. “It is vitally important to their future that we have the financial resources to be able to help them, and I’m so appreciative of the donors who make this possible.” Read more about the UC Student Emergency Fund.
#GivingTuesday donors can choose from hundreds of funds to support, including the Gen-1/1MPACT House, Bearcats Pantry & Resource Center, and the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute. Donors who contribute $20 or more to any UC fund on Dec. 3 will receive this year's exclusive, limited-edition, #GivingTuesday collectible ornament. Plus, on Cyber Monday, Dec. 2, donors can double their impact by making a gift of $40 or more and receive this year's ornament along with one from a previous year.
“Many alumni and friends of the university consider #GivingTuesday the perfect opportunity to support a UC cause that matters most to them,” said UC Chief Alumni Officer Jennifer Heisey ’97. “With such a broad range of giving options available across the university, #GivingTuesday is a compelling time for all Bearcats to make a direct impact on our students and the future of their alma mater.”
