UC All-Campus Blood Drive empowers Bearcats to save lives

Show your UC pride April 7-11

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, and the UC Bearcats are teaming up to protect the blood supply in the Greater Cincinnati community.

The University of Cincinnati All-Campus Blood Drive will take place April 7-11 and is open to the public, including current faculty, staff, students and alumni.

●      Main Campus: Monday–Friday. Hoxworth Donor Bus parked on Bearcat Commons behind Arts & Sciences Hall. Hours vary.

●      Medical Campus: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday. Hoxworth Donor Bus parked in front of the CARE/Crawley Building.

●      Clermont Campus: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday. Hoxworth Donor Bus parked in front of the Student Services Building.

●      Blue Ash Campus: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday. Hoxworth Donor Bus parked in the Muntz Hall parking lot.

All donors will receive an exclusive Bearcat blanket to thank them for their donation. This soft and cozy blanket is warm during the winter months and perfect for spring and summer sports or other outdoor activities. In addition to the blanket, donors will receive a $10 Domino’s eGift card sent via email.

Every five minutes in Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana, someone needs blood or blood products for surgery, trauma, cancer or other medical treatment. Even though the need is great, only 3% of eligible donors actually donate.

Being part of the University of Cincinnati is something we take pride in here at Hoxworth. We know when we join forces with the Bearcat community, we are truly saving lives close to home.

Hoxworth Blood Center & University of Cincinnati history

In 1944, Hoxworth Blood Center was established as an integral part of the University of Cincinnati, a result of collaborative efforts by UC College of Medicine Dean Stanley Dorst, MD, and Paul Hoxworth, MD, the center's founder. The doctors successfully partnered with the University of Cincinnati’s President Raymond Walters and became the only blood center in the nation to be sponsored by a university. Hoxworth Blood Center is the oldest operating blood center in the United States and a pioneer in the field of transfusion medicine. Learn more about the history of Hoxworth Blood Center.

Hoxworth Central open Monday-Friday

In March, the Hoxworth Central location in Clifton expanded hours to be open Monday through Friday. This allows more members of the University of Cincinnati community, UC Health employees and the Clifton community to schedule their appointments to donate blood. If you miss the UC All-Campus Blood Drive, you can make your appointment at Hoxworth Central and continue your #HoxworthHabit.
