
Dror Biran joins CCM Wind Symphony in concert for 'Hope Springs Eternal' April 25

UC College-Conservatory of Music celebrates the last day of classes for the spring semester with an inspiring CCM Wind Symphony performance — featuring faculty artist Dror Biran on piano. The "Hope Springs Eternal" concert also welcomes guest ensemble the Walnut Hills High School Wind Ensemble.
Presented at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25, tickets for the performance are on sale now through the CCM Box Office.
The Walnut Hills High School Wind Ensemble, conducted by Richard Canter, opens the concert with performances of Ryan J. Nowlin's Fanfare for the Centennial, selections from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, David Maslanka's Illumination and Tyler S. Grant's All the Earth & Air.
After a brief intermission, the CCM Wind Symphony takes the stage to perform Adolphus Hailstork's Fanfare on Amazing Grace, led by graduate student conductor Bradley Esau. Next, Music Director Kevin Michael Holzman conducts the ensemble's performance of Anna Clyne's Masquerade. Then Faculty Artist Dror Biran, piano, joins the CCM Wind Symphony for Igor Stravinsky's Concerto for Piano and Wind Instruments. The concert program culminates in David Maslanka’s monumental Symphony. No. 4.

Biran has performed widely as a soloist with major orchestras including the Lithuanian Philharmonic Orchestra, RTVE Symphony Orchestra of Spain, Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He has played under the batons of Etinger, Rodan, Gueller, Gacia Asensio, Mester, Lane and others. His concert tours have taken him to the United States, Israel and South Africa, South Korea and China along with Eastern and Western Europe.
As an avid chamber musician, Biran has appeared on a regular basis with different music ensembles such as Carmel, Amernet and Aviv String Quartets. He premiered works by Grawemyer and Rome Award winners such as York Höler and Sebastian Currier. His concerts have been broadcasted by WUOL, WCLV, WQXR, The Voice of Music – Israel and Classic FM South Africa, among others. Biran can be heard on the JMC (Jerusalem Music Centre) and Centaur labels
A recipient of multiple scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation for distinguished musicians, Biran began his piano studies with Ms. Lily Dorfman, and mentored by Arie Vardi, Paul Schenly, Daniel Shapiro and Lee Luvisi. He graduated from Rubin Academy of Music at Tel-Aviv University and the Cleveland Institute of Music where he received his doctorate degree in piano performance.
Biran taught at the University of Louisville, Youngstown State University and Case Western Reserve University. Currently, he serves as Professor of Piano at the College-Conservatory of Music University of Cincinnati.

Parking is available in UC's CCM Garage (located at the base of Corry Boulevard off Jefferson Avenue) and additional garages throughout the UC campus. Effective July 1, 2023, all University of Cincinnati Parking Services locations are cashless. Pay for parking securely with your credit/debit card. All major credit cards accepted.
CCM OnStage patrons can add pre-paid parking to their checkout carts when purchasing tickets. Pre-paid parking is date/performance specific. CCM Garage parking rates for a performance or special event is usually available for $10-15. Learn more about parking at UC's CCM Garage.
