'Home Work' Sculpture Nears An End

A passel of squirrels will be looking for new romping grounds as two pieces in the towering "Home Work" sculpture near UC's front gate on Clifton Avenue were dismantled on Tuesday.

The wooden sculpture, created in April 2002 by artist Patrick Dougherty with help from UC students and faculty, was always intended to be temporary. The exhibit was scheduled to remain in place for a year, but two "houses" in the home-like line up had become unstable and were removed by Facilities Management workers, said Anne Timpano, director of galleries at the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning and curator of the university's Fine Arts Collection.

If you haven't had a chance to see the sculpture yet, the rest will remain in place for another two months or as long as the remaining three houses remain stable, said Timpano.
