TONIGHT: A Taste of Asia

A Taste of Asia program held in 2002 proved to be so popular that the Asian American Association and other campus groups have expanded the program this year, adding panel discussions and a movie night. All events are free and open to the public:

Tuesday March 4 
7:30  p.m. – Room 201, Braunstein
Panel discussion "Asians in the Mainstream" 
Panelists from UC and the Cincinnati community talk about Asian culture's affect on American society.  Snacks will be provided.

Wednesday March 5
7 p.m. - Event Pavilion
Anime movie night featuring viewing of the Hayao Miyasaki film "Pom Poko" followed by discussion.  Snacks will be provided.

Thursday March 6
Noon
- Max Kade German Cultural Center
Asian Game Day, featuring Mah Jongg and other fun board games of Asian origin.

7:30 p.m.- Event Pavilion
Multicultural Talent Showcase. Come watch UC students perform, along with opening act Salsa Caliente!  A dance follows the showcase.
 
Friday March 7
7 p.m. - Zimmer Auditorium and Lobby
A Taste of Asia - Come sample food from different Asian countries and enjoy performances by the Cincinnati Dayton Taiko Drum Troupe, Alhambra Middle Eastern Dancers and more.  Food samples and performances are free. Food from Amol India, Red Pepper, and Mei Japanese Restaurant will be featured. 

The Friday evening program is sponsored by MainStreet and the Asian American Association, along with Ethnic Programs and Services, Friday Night Live, the Residence Hall Association and Jefferson Advisory Council. Asian American Association meetings are every other Thursday at 5:30  p.m. in Room 527, Old Chem.
