University Libraries Staff Invite You To Sink Your Teeth Into A Good Book

Librarians are at work on the books that will be very popular with the fans who have a sweet tooth. The public is invited to join the staff of University Libraries for the International Edible Book Festival from 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, in the staff lounge (Room 642) on the sixth floor of the University of Cincinnati Langsam Library. Admission is free, and the general public is invited to bring edible books to the tea table.

Restaurants, galleries, libraries and book lovers around the world have joined the International Edible Book Festival for the past three years. Participants for the 2003 festival include submissions from Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, The Netherlands and the U.S.A. This is the second year that University Libraries have joined in.

For those who want to bring their own samplings to UC to be savored, here are the rules: The creations must be edible, and they must have some connection to books. Books will be judged in categories such as Most Delicious, Most Outrageous, Truest to the Book, and Most Beautiful.

Library staff who are now getting their ideas on the drawing board include Jane Carlin, DAAP Library; Tracy Rebstock, Langsam Library; Pam Bach, Langsam Library; Rose Einhaus, Langsam Library; Angela Gooden, Geology/Physics Library; Holly Prochaska, Langsam Library; Elaine Ignatius, Langsam Library; Melissa Norris, Langsam Library; and Sharon Downing, CCM Library.
