UC Honors Scholars Celebrate Record

The new freshman class of UC’s Honors Scholars numbers 480, the “biggest class of Honors students we’ve had by far,” says Dave Meredith, director of enrollment management for the UC Honors Scholars Program.

The Honors Scholars Program provides unique and challenging courses and social opportunities for UC’s academically talented students in all colleges on campus. The total number of Honors Scholars at UC this fall will jump to 1,700, compared to 1,400 last year.

The annual Honors Retreat for new students will be held Sept. 17-18 at Camp Higher Ground in West Harrison, Ind. The retreat prepares new students for what life is like on a college campus and offers sessions on time management, study skills and interacting with college faculty.

This year, 120 new Honors Scholars will attend the retreat, along with 20 Honors Scholars upperclassmen who will serve as mentors to the new students.
