Peace Conversation, Conference on Youth Mark Sept. 11 Anniversary
University of Cincinnati professor of social work Steve Sunderland, an expert on bereavement, will moderate two events on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, in observance of the second anniversary of Sept. 11. Sunderland heads a project called the Peace Village which works internationally to promote peace.
TIME: 8:30-9:30 a.m.
WHAT: Second Annual Peace Village Phone Conversation
WHERE: Room 226, Sabin Education Center, Childrens Hospital Medical Center
DETAILS: Peace Village team members from Cincinnati, elsewhere in the United States, Argentina, Israel and Nigeria are scheduled to talk by phone to discuss activities they pursue to promote peace around the world and in daily life. This event is open to news media, but not the public. This is not a video conference.
TIME: 1-4 p.m.
WHAT: Second Annual Peace Village Conference on Youth and Peace
WHERE: Auditorium, Sabin Education Center, Childrens Hospital Medical Center
DETAILS: The conference will examine the issue of adolescent youth who face turning points in life, such as conflict, education and drug use. Students from Aiken High School class of teacher Marty Kamarani will participate. Emory Livers, director of diversity at Children Hospital, co-chairs the event. Merrill Frazier, director of the Harriet Tubman Project, will also participate. This event is open to the public.
