Dress in Denim To Fight Breast Cancer

University of Cincinnati students, faculty and staff are asked to don their denim Friday, Oct. 10, and make a donation to support the research, education and treatment of breast cancer. The UC community is joining Lee National Denim Day, the world’s largest one-day fund-raiser for breast cancer awareness and research. It’s UC’s fifth straight year of participation.

Since 1996, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation reports that Denim Day events across the nation have raised over $36 million to fight breast cancer.

Half of the UC contributions for Denim Day will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the nation’s largest private fund-raising organization dedicated to fighting breast cancer. The foundation is named in memory of a Peoria woman, a 36-year-old mother of two who died of breast cancer in 1986.

The remainder of the UC fund-raiser will benefit the local Barrett Cancer Center.

Donations can be made Oct. 10 at the UC Wellness Center, located in suite 100 of the Student Life Pavilion. On the East Campus, donations can be made at University Health Services, located on the first floor of the Holmes building. The hours are from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at both locations. Donors writing checks are asked to make checks payable to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
