Discount Delight: UC Clearance Sale Set for Nov. 8

Price tags on used desks, computers, chairs, file cabinets and much more will be one-half their regular low prices during the University of Cincinnati’s Annual Major Clearance Sale of surplus equipment on Saturday, Nov. 8.

Also among this year’s clearance items, if they don’t disappear at the last weekly surplus sale on Oct. 23, are one formerly electronic scoring table sign from the Bearcats basketball games, some brand new window fans still in the box, used dormitory desks, used copiers and slide viewer/projectors.

WHEN: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8.

WHERE: First floor, Campus Services Building (the Old Sears Building), 2900 Reading Road, at the corner of Reading Road and Lincoln Avenue. The entrance is in the rear of the building (Winslow Avenue side) next to the loading dock, at the sign that says Campus Services Building, Surplus Equipment Management.

WHAT: Used items are priced at 50 percent off the regular weekly public sale prices, with the exception of the unclaimed lost and found items, which are auctioned in a seal-bid format. Desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, bookcases, storage cabinets, typewriters, fax machines, computers, monitors, caculators, lab equipment and much more will be available. Prices start at about 50 cent for assorted small office supplies and go up to about $130 for computers.

SILENT AUCTION: Items from Unclaimed Lost and Found (jewelry, watches, rings, calculators, inline skates) will be available though a silent auction. Bidding will be open from 9 a.m. until noon. High bidders will be notified on site (if present) or by phone for payment and pick-up that day or Sunday.

CUSTOMER PICK-UP: Purchasers may pick up purchases on Sunday, Nov. 9, from noon to 3 p.m. and Monday through Friday by appointment. Call (513) 556-5654 to arrange a pick-up time.

OTHER SALES REQUIREMENTS: For the annual sale only, payment will be accepted by cash, checks and money orders. No credit cards.

WEEKLY SALES: Weekly Public Surplus Sales, open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays, offer used items to purchase. On weekly sales, only checks or money orders are accepted. The last weekly public sale before the Nov. 8 clearance is Thursday, Oct. 23, with weekly sales resuming Dec. 11.
