STUDENTS: Need To Improve Your Writing Skills?

WHO?  The UC Writing Center!

WHAT?  A free tutorial service designed to help students become more effective writers and thinkers.

WHEN?  Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE?  Room 257, McMicken Hall

WHY?  Sometimes, even the best writers need help with their college-level writing assignments.

Students who take advantage of the center's services range from first-year students in introductory composition courses, to upper-level undergraduates learning to write in their particular disciplines, to graduate students working on Master's theses and dissertations.

HOW?  The center is staffed by teachers of writing who are particularly experienced in a one-on-one approach to writing instruction, and they work with a variety of students. The tutors help students who are working on developing the writing skills necessary for them to succeed in a course of study. Tutors also help average student writers hoping to become above average and above-average student writers who would like to become excellent writers. The Writing Center's purpose is not merely to help you improve your writing for specific essays and assignments, but to help you develop your overall writing skills; in this way, you come away from tutorials with knowledge about writing, which you will be able to apply not just to the essay at hand, but to future writing as well.

NOW WHAT?  To take advantage of these services, feel free to just walk in to make an appointment, call ahead for an in-person visit or arrange an online consultation at 513-556-3912. For more information, call Bill Zipfel at 513-556-1347 or e-mail him at william.zipfel@uc.edu.
