24th Annual Conference on Romance Languages and Literatures

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures held its 24th annual Conference on Romance Languages and Literatures from May 13-15, 2004 at the Vernon Manor Hotel. This is the oldest graduate-student organized conference in the US. 180 participants read scholarly papers. These participants were from 79 different universities in the US. In addition, participants attended from Mexico, Wales, London, Oxford, and Vallodolid (Spain). In conjunction with the conference, the 23rd volume of the Cincinnati Romance Review was presented. This annual journal publishes selected articles based on papers delivered at the conference of the previous year. We re looking forward to our 25th anniversary at next year's conference to be held on May 12-14, 2004. This year's organizers were Fanny Cavion, Karine Provot, and Maria Ortiz. The faculty advisor to the conference is Connie Scarborough.

Zachary Jarrell came to the University of Cincinnati in 2019 to pursue a degree in statistics. In 2023, he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Journalism. For many undergraduates, the journey through college rarely takes the expected track. Detours happen, and majors change. It has left a lasting impression on his life so far, guiding him to multiple internships as an undergraduate, real-world experience in prominent news outlets, and eventually a successful career in the highly competitive field of journalism.
