Romance Languages Conference Still Going Strong

Graduate students in the department of romance languages and literatures demonstrated their professional skills when they hosted the 24th annual Conference on Romance Languages and Literatures. The oldest graduate-student organized conference in the United States, the event featured 180 scholarly papers. Participants attended from 79 universities in the United States, as well as from Mexico, Wales, London, Oxford, and Spain.

In conjunction with the conference, the 23rd volume of the Cincinnati "Romance Review" was presented. This annual journal publishes selected articles based on papers delivered at the previous year’s conference.

Connie Scarborough, faculty adviser, expressed appreciation for the work of student organizers, Fanny Cavion, Karine Provot, and Maria Ortiz. She added, “We re looking forward to our 25th anniversary at next year's conference to be held on May 12-14, 2005.”
