Esposito Named Best Honors Professor

The 2003-04 Honors Scholars Program Teaching Award went to Paul Esposito, professor of physics. Philip Way, director of the program, noted that Esposito was impressive because of his “ability to teach what is seen by some students as a ‘killer course” and yet receive rave reviews.”

Students’evaluations were also complimentary. One commented, “Dr. Esposito is a brilliant person who, though he is smart, could still relate to the students.” Another added, “He’s definitely enthusiastic about physics, cares about students, and never makes you feel dumb. Nice guy overall.” A final observation summarized students’ perceptions: “Esposito is one of the most interesting teachers I have had. He definitely knows his stuff. Esposito is awesome!”

The award is given on the basis of nominations by students, quantitative and qualitative teaching evaluations, the quality of the course and other contributions to Honors teaching. Recipients’ names are placed on a plaque in the Honors suite of offices, and each receives $500 toward future professional expenses.
