Calhoun Garage Makes Limited Debut For Start Of Fall Quarter

The beginning of the new academic year this year will correspond with the limited debut of the newest parking facility at the University of Cincinnati.

The Calhoun Garage opened on Monday, Sept. 20, for the use of 300 UC students who have been assigned decals for the garage.

The limited opening of the garage at this time will help address a parking overflow situation from last year, when a complete sell-out of decals for UC’s West Campus garages meant that approximately 300 West Campus students were assigned parking in the Eden Avenue Garage on East Campus and had to rely on shuttle bus service to reach West Campus.

The garage portion of the facility will eventually provide 1,000 parking spaces, and is expected to be fully accessible by winter quarter.

"As garage capacity grows, we anticipate making UC employees aware of opportunities to use Calhoun Garage as a parking option," says UC Director of Parking Services John Hautz.

With its location in the south-central part of West Campus, Hautz expects Calhoun to be a popular option for those whose campus activities are centered around Calhoun and Siddall halls, CCM, Blegen Library, the College of Law and Dyer Hall.

Hourly cash-only parking will begin to be offered as the garage’s daily capacity grows closer to the 1,000-space maximum.

Access for automobiles to the garage during this first phase will be from the garage’s lower-level entrance off of Corry Street, adjacent to the east end of the new facility for soccer and track at UC, Gettler Stadium.
