UC Classes Begin Sept. 22

The University of Cincinnati begins Fall Quarter classes on Wednesday, Sept. 22. Students will move into the residence halls Sept. 17-18.

Currently, UC has enrolled 34,334 students – 545 students more than last year on this date (Sept. 24). This is a 1.6 percent increase over last year’s year-to-date enrollment of 33,789. The university says the growing student population can be attributed to six key factors:

  • A strong freshman class, nearly equaling last year's record freshman class of 4,723
  • The impact of university-wide efforts to improve retention
  • Increases in the numbers of incoming graduate students
  • An increase in the number of associate degree graduates from the branch campuses transferring to the main campus to pursue a baccalaureate degree
  • A 3.6 percent or a 137-student increase in African American students
  • A  11.4 percent or a 54-student increase in Hispanic students

Coming Sunday, Sept. 19, Convocation, the formal welcome for first-year students, will be held at 2-3 p.m. in the Fifth Third Arena at Shoemaker Center and will be webcast live at this address: http://streaming.uc.edu/convocation/2004.asx
