Aerospace Chair Awatef Hamed Named One of YWCA Career Women of Achievement

Hamed is one of only three women in the country currently heading an aerospace engineering department. She was the first tenure-track woman faculty member at University of Cincinnati's College of Engineering. Hamed has published more than 300 articles in technical and academic publications.

Hamed is the executive secretary of the International Society for Air Breathing Engines and editor of the International Journal of Computational Fluid Dynamics. She has often been the first woman to serve on NASA and Army research and technology advisory committees. She has been awarded numerous research, teaching and community honors and serves on many professional committees for organizations including the National Science Foundation, the National Academies of Sciences, and NASA.

Hamed and the other seven YWCA Career Women of Achievement will be honored at a luncheon banquet on May 12 at the Cinergy Center ballroom downtown. For information on the luncheon, call (513) 241-7090.
