UC Women s Center Seeks Volunteers for New Peer Advocate Program

What: Volunteer to provide support and advocacy to student survivors of sexual assault, intimate-partner violence and stalking. Selected advocates will go through a forty-hour training to learn how to effectively support survivors of interpersonal violence. Responsibilities include providing information on campus and community resources, accompanying survivors to various service providers, being on-call at least four designated shifts a month, and attending regular in-service meetings.

Why: To provide another dimension of support at UC for survivors of interpersonal violence and to promote a JUST community.

How: To apply, pick up an application at UC Women’s Center, 571 Steger Student Life Center. A police background check will be completed on each applicant. For more information about the program, check out our website at www.uc.edu/ucwc.

When: Application deadline is Monday, May 2. The first training date is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
