UC College of Business holds Sarbanes-Oxley Act on May 20
On May 20 in 112 Lindner Hall, the College of Business will hold a symposium to discuss how the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) may affect the environment of corporate reporting in the long-run and how we expect the standards of care for corporate reporting to change. Though speculative, this symposium will bring together individuals from industry, the accounting profession, and academia to brain storm the future and identify opportunities for long-term improvement in the financial reporting and auditing practices and its teaching.
Professor Morton Pincus, Department Head and Harry B. Carlson-KPMG Peat Marwick Research Professor of Accounting at the University of Iowa is the faculty panelist. Pincus currently serves on the editorial board of The Accounting Review and is vice president-elect of publications for the American Accounting Association.
Bert Cannon, Partner, Deloitte & Touche and Paul Green, partner, Ernst & Young will represent the accounting profession's viewpoint while Dan Poston, executive vice president & director of audit, Fifth Third Bank, and Tom Mischell, senior vice president/tax, American Financial Group will present the CFO's viewpoint. The symposium will be moderated by Professor J. Timothy Sale, head of accounting department at the University of Cincinnati College of Business.
