Connecting With Community: Tristaters Invited To Explore UC
The University of Cincinnati is launching a new plan to draw new visitors to the Uptown Campus and the surrounding neighborhoods. Beginning in early October, an initiative called Explore UC part of the UC|21 goal to establish a sense of place will offer deals and discounts to attract visitors to campus and to UCs surrounding neighborhoods.
The initiative focuses on people from the Tristate who tour campus, attend conferences on campus, or visit UC representatives at local college fairs. From Oct. 1 - June 9, those visitors will receive discounts for parking, campus dining, UC spirit-wear, athletic events, non-credit classes at UCs Communiversity, events at the College-Conservatory of Music, as well as day passes to get into UCs state-of-the-art Campus Recreation Center, set to open during winter quarter. Furthermore, theyll find out how to take advantage of discount deals just for them from nearly 40 businesses in the surrounding community including the Cincinnati Zoo, restaurants, shops, banks and salons. Ann Sullivan, director of administrative activities for Campus Services, says approximately 18,000 households will be targeted as part of the campaign.
The UC|21 strategic plan to define the new urban research university calls for a vibrant campus thats the center of learning, living, playing and staying, for both the campus and outlying communities. Explore UC is one of the initiatives to develop out of the plan. Its creation was the work of numerous university units and departments, including UC Admissions, MainStreet Operations, UC Bookstores, the Bearcat Campus Card, Campus Recreation, Student Affairs and Services, UC Athletics, CCM, Food Services, Parking Services, Communiversity and UCit.
