UC Chosen by Pegasus Technical Services to Partner on $37.2 Million Five-Year Project for U.S. EPA
"People know that if they cannot team up with UC, they cannot win such contracts!" says Asit Saha, president and founder of Pegasus Technical Services, Inc.
The whole university shares the excitement of this award, says University of Cincinnati Senior Vice President and Provost Anthony Perzigian. Makram T. Suidan, professor of environmental engineering, is the principle investigator for UC.
The award was formally announced at a ceremony Oct. 4 at the EPAs Andrew W. Breidenbach facility. In her welcoming remarks, Cris Thompson, director of the EPAs Cincinnati Procurement Operations Division, described the painstaking work involved in getting the project designated as a small-business set-aside.
EPA recognizes the value the small business adds to the American economy, said Thompson. The Office of Acquisition Management has done a good job of finding ways to expand the role of small businesses.
Sally Gutierrez, newly appointed director of the EPA National Risk Management Research Laboratory, noted that enhanced environmental protection for the nation is no small task.
We rely heavily on our partners and collaborators, Gutierrez said. We are very, very happy that we have gotten this far.
We expect exceptional service! said Annette Gatchett, acting director of the EPA Land Remediation and Pollution Control Division. Pegasus has brought an exceptional team University of Cincinnati, Battelle of Columbus and Shaw Environmental. Let the work begin!
Pegasus president and founder Asit B. Saha shares Gatchetts enthusiasm for the project: I guarantee that we will meet or exceed your expectations!
Pegasus Technical Services, Inc., was founded in April 1996 in Blue Ash, Ohio, by Saha and his wife, Bijoli Saha, with the help of a close friend, Keith Wilkerson. Bijoli Saha is vice president of the company.
The Company is a US Small Business Administration (SBA) certified Small, Disadvantaged Business and is also an Asian/Pacific American-owned business.
Saha originally formed the company as Pegasus Environmental Services but quickly found that Pegasus had value beyond just its environmental expertise and changed to Pegasus Technical Services, Inc. Pegasus provides support and services in information technology and computer aided design (CAD) to its customers for their off-site and on-site requirements.
For the current project, Pegasus is partnering with Battelle, Shaw and the University of Cincinnati. Battelle, founded in 1929 and headquartered in Columbus, is a global science and technology company that develops and commercializes technology and manages laboratories for customers. The Shaw Group provides premier engineering, design, construction and maintenance services to government and private-sector clients in a wide array of industries, including the energy, environmental and emergency response markets.
The US EPA and Pegasus with UC, Battelle and Shaw make a formidable team, says Saha.
Saha is a very active member of the Cincinnati community, and is a member of the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, among many other organizations. Once a month, Saha volunteers his time at an Over-the-Rhine soup kitchen.
I make spaghetti and meatballs, Indian style, says Saha. Its very spicy.
