College Blitz Day Promotes Lifelong Learning

I Know I Can is the message that promoters of College Blitz hoped to get across to elementary school students. Organizers across the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region enlisted the help of 30 community members (eight in Clermont County) to read the book I Know I Can by Wendy W. Rouillard – which focuses on college as a way to prepare for life goals. Two of the book’s characters are represented as hand puppets.

College Blitz Day is sponsored by the Greater Cincinnati College Access Network (GCCAN), which promotes lifelong learning through postsecondary enrollment and success. Students and adults love the interaction and the positive message of the book.

GCCAN is a collaboration of educational institutions, college access programs, businesses, foundations and community-based organizations. Partners in Clermont County include TRIO programs (Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound), UC Clermont College, Clermont 20/20 and Clermont Educational Opportunities.

Some of local readers included Peggy Chalker, Assistant Dean at UC Clermont, Glenda Neff, Director of Business and Educational Outreach at UC Clermont and Cindy Jenkins, Executive Director of Clermont 20/20 and of Clermont Educational Opportunities.

College Blitz Day in Clermont County was coordinated by Dan Schneider and Nikki Vargas of Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound at UC Clermont.
