UC s Meet Me on MainStreet Celebration Features Cookout, Carnival and Rozzi Fireworks

The 67th annual Sigma Sigma Carnival at the University of Cincinnati welcomes the university and Cincinnati USA community to enjoy the fun and fireworks as the carnival gets underway on Saturday, May 20, from 5 p.m.-1 a.m. on UC’s Sigma Sigma Commons, rain or shine. The event will begin with a barbeque hosted by UC’s Programs and Activities Council.

One of the highlights of the carnival will be the 10 p.m. fireworks display by Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks, the family-owned company that has produced some of the most spectacular fireworks displays in Cincinnati, including the annual Riverfest celebration. The 20-minute fireworks show is sponsored by UC’s MainStreet.

Sigma Sigma Carnival organizer Brent Cengia says this year’s carnival, with the Los Vegas theme Carnival on the Strip, features games, food and the music of some of UC’s student bands, including Jonuh, SoLow Productions (a hip-hop band) and Jucco Jones. Cengia says other attractions include cornhole, a bungee run and sumo wrestling. UC student organizations plan and design the dozens of booths offering carnival entertainment. Admission to the carnival and games is free, but there will be a charge for food and beverages.

Sigma Sigma is a UC men’s honorary that recognizes students who have made significant contributions to the university. Its members – who are invited into the organization based on their service to UC and student leadership – are dedicated to fostering and promoting school spirit.

UC’s Meet Me on MainStreet celebration highlights the completion of a thriving corridor through the heart of campus where people can learn, work, play and stay. It’s a celebration that exemplifies UC|21 strategies to establish a sense of place on campus by offering exciting programs that bring people into the pedestrian-friendly MainStreet corridor.
