UC Alumnus Honored for Integrity, Compassion and Wisdom
Daniel P. Carmichael graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy in 1965 and a Juris Doctor in 1968. He is an attorney for the law firm of Baker & Daniels. Prior to joining Baker & Daniels, Mr. Carmichael began his career working for the global research-based organization Eli Lilly & Company. For more than 28 years, he served in many roles, including: Director of the Washington, D.C. office, Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, and most recently as Secretary to the Board of Directors and Deputy General Counsel.
Mr. Carmichael is a member of the American Society for Pharmacy Law, the American Society of Corporate Secretaries, and a past chairman of the Food & Drug Law Institute. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Lilly Endowment, Indiana University Public and Environmental Affairs Council and Indianapolis Legal Aid Society. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Conner Prairie Museum and 500 Festival, Inc.
Mr. Carmichaels depth of character his wisdom, compassion, and integrity fulfills the highest ideals of citizenship, leadership, family, and community. His dedication and commitment to the University of Cincinnati is outstanding. He is a lifetime member of the UC Alumni Association and a member of the McMicken Society. He has served on the College of Law Board of Visitors since 1993, and he worked tirelessly as the co-chair of the very recent search committee which brought Dean Louis Bilionis to the College of Law. He also serves on the UC Foundation Board of Trustees as a member of the Finance Committee.
He currently resides in Carmel, Ind., with his wife, Judith, who earned a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Cincinnati in 1965. Mr. and Mrs. Carmichael have three children.
