A&S Welcomes Mark A. Raider to Department of Judaic Studies
Dean Karen Gould says Mark A. Raider, PhD, is recognized as a highly respected scholar and efficient administrator, a talented leader successful at developing and strengthening community partnerships.
Now, Raider brings all those skills and a passion for American Jewish and Zionist history to McMicken College of Arts and Science, as department head and Jewish Foundation Endowed Chair of the Department of Judaic Studies. His wife, Miriam B. Raider-Roth, PhD, has joined UC as an associate professor in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services.

An important indication of Raiders multiple talents, Gould said, is that he was both chairman of Judaic Studies and founding director of the Center of Jewish Studies at his previous post, State University of New York at Albany.
He has had a very distinguished career We were so impressed and ultimately, persuaded that he was the very best candidate for this position, Gould said.

With an app that combats food waste and incentivises donations to food banks, two University of Cincinnati students were part of a team that won an artificial intelligence and blockchain hackathon competition in San Francisco. Daniel Vennemeyer, a computer science, economics and mathematics student who also is pursuing a master’s degree in AI through UC’s ACCEND program, and Phan Anh “Rai” Duong, a computer science student, were part of a team that won the grand prize in the EasyA x VeChain Bay Area Hackathon.
